Neptune grain terminal at the Port
Pivdennyi, the largest U.S. investment in the Ukrainian agro-industrial
complex, has handled more than 6.6 million tons of grain in three years.
‘June 1st, 2021 shows
three years since the start of the Neptune grain terminal, a joint venture with
the American corporation Cargill. During this time, the terminal has received
132 vessels and processed more than 6.6 million tons of grain,’ said Andrey
Stavnitser, the Neptune co-owner.
Neptune is one of the largest and
most modern grain terminals in Ukraine and in the Black Sea region. This is a
joint project of the Ukrainian stevedoring company MV Cargo and the American
food corporation Cargill, implemented with the support of the EBRD and IFC. The
total investment in the construction of the terminal was $ 150 million.
‘Nowadays, Neptune is reaching a
new ‘quality’ level, and it is important to note that in the implementation of
this investment project, its owners, as well as the Ukrainian state, have made
the highest commitments to the American investor. This partnership is a unique
and important example of effective cooperation between the U.S. and Ukraine. A
partnership that we can be proud of not only at the business level, but also at
the interstate level,’ said Andrey Stavnitser.
The terminal has fully fulfilled
its obligations and continues to fulfill them, effectively processing the
products of Ukrainian farmers. The Ukrainian state also demonstrates its
readiness to strengthen Ukraine's image as a reliable partner for American
investors. There is the reason to hope that the obligations of the state will
also be fulfilled.
We remind that the annual design turnover
of the terminal is 5 million tons. The complex consists of 14 silages with the
capacity of 15 thousand tons and a floor granary with the capacity of 80
thousand tons. The terminal is equipped with its own railway and road infrastructure.
The cargo turnover of the terminal in the marketing year 2019/2020 (July 2019 –
June 2020) amounted to more than 2.5 million tons, as a result of which Neptune
entered the top ten largest grain terminals in Ukraine.
The terminal started its operation
in test mode and grain processing in June 2018. The grand opening of Neptune
took place on September 6th, 2019.
